Hi All,
Newbie here so please be patient with me!
I have used this forum many times in the past as reference but despite a lot of searching I can't seem to find much info on how to install a transponder bypass on the Canadian 2010 Kia Forte. So wondering if anyone can help.
I have purchased and successfully installed the OEM Kia Remote Start and Security system in the car. Part number of the kit is U8560-1M000. Its all programmed and all security features work fine, however, the remote start will only crank and not start. This is because the Canadian models have a transponder key. If I put the key near the ignition cylinder and activate the remote start the car starts fine.
Hence, I need a transponder bypass and I thought the keyless ones would be best so I purchased a DBALL2 by Xpresskit, got it programmed for the car and intend to install it this weekend.
I have the wiring diagram for the DBALL2 and it is fairly straight forward to find most of the connections on the car (EMS Com, C-Can low, C-Can high, +Ignition input, AC Tach, +12v, -ground) . However, the 2 other required connections I need help with.
Firstly, the DBALL2 seems to need a (+)Brake status which, I assume could be taken off pin 8 of the 20 pin connector in the fuse box although two different reference sources for this location conflict in that one says it is (-) while the other says it is (+). How can I confirm this with DMM?
The second and most troubling requirement is the need for a (-)GWR input for the DBALL2. As I understand it, the GWR has to be present when the remote start is activated in order for the bypass module to work. I have no idea where this input could be taken from as I have no wiring diagram for the Kia remote start module and Kia dealer was no help in providing one. Is there a way to identify if the module has a (-)GWR by testing? Is there another way to create a (-)GWR using a source somewhere else on the car other than the remote start module? If so, how would I go about this?
In some other posts I looked at (different application) people seemed to imply that the keysense wire (which is supposed to be negative in this car) could be used for GWR purposes. Any truth to this?
Yet another post was alluding to the fact the +ACC2 wire could be used as GWR but would have to be wired up with a relay in order to flip the polarity. Any truth to this?
