I go to start my truck with the key fob the truck turns over but truck will not run.

security light flashes.

2001 gmc 1500 sle with a code alarm remote starter. remote was installed 2005.

the unit has no part number or model number. the remote has 4 buttons.

I have a picture of the remote.

I just don't know if it is a reprogram issue or a security issue

Sounds like a Passlock2 issue, with the Security Light on. What type of bypass module was used in conjunction with the remote starter?

the truck starts with the key. its the remote system that is not working

Try reprogramming the PLXR. Here is a link to the guide :
