Hi guys, I just signed up and found a very helpful cheat sheet here:
Wire Connection Template 02 Excursion AT Diesel Excel file
What works:
-----------
Alarm except horn
What doesnt work - OMFG
-----------------------
When I finished the install, I dont remember what I did I was going to try to program it. I did not press anything other than lock or unlock on the remote.
All I remember was the engine suddenly started cranking in my 2006 6.0L diesel Ford F250.
To compliment the cranking which may have become endless since I did not program the viper for tach yet,
the horn started tooting like the day after a chili festival.
I cut the brown/black wire to silence the horn but my truck kept running.
I couldnt shut off the truck, I inserted and turned the key but it didnt help. Fortunately the starter quit turning automatically when the truck started running. Yikes! I didnt know how to kill it. I pulled out the Remote Start 10pin harness from the viper and the truck stalled. Turning the key will no longer start the truck, since the green starter wire is cut with a viper green wire on the ignition side and violet on the vehicle side of the cut.
This is my 1st install, I am happy the alarm part works but I do not know where to start with debugging the remote starter problems. Anyone know which wires could be causing the unwelcomed instant starting?
I inserted the key

I think that putting a relay on the horn will stop the Always On behavior.
But what about the starter issue? Would be nice to have control of the ignition again, lol. Why is the viper starting the truck without consent?

where did you ground the unit?... leave the remote start harness unplugged (the 10 pin heavy connector), but plug back in the 6pin, and try pressing unlock. this should enable you to start with the key.

Thanks for your reply silvercivicsir.
I only unplugged the 10 pin and that stopped the engine, so I already have it unplugged. I left the 6 pin alone and so the alarm works. The truck will not start, since the 10pin harness is the one with viper green and the viper violet wires that are on either side of my truck's starter wire. So in other words, the starter will not be able to engage because the wire is cut and it leads only to an unplugged harness, no connection to anything.
I wasnt able to find anyone else with this problem when searching around.

with it unlocked, and the 10 pin harness plugged in, does it try to start the truck?

I pulled the 10pin harness to thwart the unwanted instant starting. Since that puts the ignition back to stock, except for the cut starter wire, the truck does not start with or without consent.
I am thinking this viper brain is defective. Even if the wiring diagram is not correct for my truck, there is no way the truck should be starting as soon as the viper is connected is there? There is a relay inside the viper according to the instructions, between the green and purple wires which bridge the cut green starter wire. Is there anything that could make that relay fire without commanding it with the key or remote?
