Newbie, replacing Viper 791xv

Hey guys, New to the forum here but I am not so new to working on my own vehicles. I have wired up many sound systems and swapped my own engine so I am very good at learning with a little guidance. I have a 1997 Jeep Cherokee that has a Viper 791XV alarm in it that has seen better days. It has been in there since 2004 and has now become very problematic. I would take it back to where I had it installed but that was HiFi Buys which went bankrupt and closed during the recession. Viper wasn't very helpful when I called to see what, if any, warranty was left on the system. Here is what I would like to do with your help, I would like to see if there is another DEI alarm system that is virtually plug and play into the existing Viper harness? I know DEI makes a ton of different brand names but many of them have the identical system under each and every name. When I accidentally crushed my Viper remote many years ago, I replaced it with a Python remote that looked almost identical. If anyone happens to know a lot about the different DEI brands and which ones would plug right into the existing harness, I would be ever so grateful!I am a huge Jeep enthusiast as well as a few other things, but mainly Jeeps

I up-graded my 791xv about 6 months ago. There isn't a "plug and play" replacement that I'm aware of. I used a 5803 because I need 4 aux outputs. The main difference is the 791 has a remote satellite relay package for the R/S, and a couple of other harnesses. The current DEI's have a 24-pin main harness, and on-board relays for the remote start. . I just spliced (solder and heat shrink) the new unit harness to the 791's wires going into the vehicle. For now, I retained the satellite relays and used the (-) R/S outputs to trigger the relay satellite. If you do this, you have to connect the yellow wire in the satellite harness to the terminal for for the pink IGN wire in the large-gauge connector. Took me about an hour of splicing. Not a big deal because I didn't get into the heavy-gauge wires as that was all still in good shape from the original install in 2008.
