Hello All,
First I would like to thank anyone taking the time to read this post! So a simple request for help!
I have a 01 Honda CRV, I would like to add a push to start with the help of a reed switch, my brain cant figure out this part(after I start the car with the push button how would I turn it off)?
I would first start the car like this... Magnet would hit the reed switch sending power to the time delay relay (30 sec)... the time delay relay would allow the push to start button(connected to a relay) to activate to send power to the starter wire and boom she starts, after that how would I turn her off? Any ideas? I was thinking using the same button to cut the ignition relay, have that push to start button single wire be used twice, since the time delay relay will only be active for 30 secs it wouldn't trigger the starter, maybe use a diode to not allow current back to the time delay relay? I just cant figure it out.
I was also thinking that once the reed switch gets power it would also turn on the power to the accessory and 2nd accessory and ignition untill I cut power via a relay that uses the input postive as a switch until current is cut.
Thanks =]

Remove 12 volts from the ignition wire.

There are some nice universal RFID kits available that are worth looking into instead of trying to make one yourself. Some have a bunch of convenience features and are far more secure than using a magnet and reed switch. As creative as I am with ideas like this, I would certainly opt to use one of these kits before trying to reinvent the wheel.

I'm sure we can relate, nothing like building a system on your own!
I'm just going to use a alarm to activate the time delay relay and latching relays for the IG and ACC1 and ACC2, and be done with it.
Thanks for your input!

Koo. Good luck with it. Are you going to bypass your steering wheel lock?
