Good morning all,
I installed an Avital 4105 remote starter last night in my 2002 GMC Sierra. I wired it all up and the truck started with not problems. I then soldered all the wires, and taped them up, closed up everything and now the truck won’t start. All I get is the 6 flashing lights which signifies the hood pin switch. Everything looked okay with the wiring and the hood was closed, so I cut the wired close to the unit to make sure I didn’t get a short to ground along the way. Still the same issue. Could I be missing something in the programming? Or is the unit defective?
Thanks

Does the hood switch need to provide a ground to enable the remote start or does a ground disable remote start?
The safest way is ground to enable - I'm not sure which way Avital wants it.

The hood switch breaks the ground when the hood is closed.

Do you have a parking brake input and is it connected to ground?

Yes. The parking brake is grounded. The shutdown diagnostic is good shutdown, 6 flashes.

Saw this in the manual. Not sure if it applies to you.
Before performing the shutdown diagnostics it is important that you let the remote start shut off on its own i.e., let it attempt to start three times then shut down, if this is not done and you press on the brake or use the remote, the unit will report the shutdown last used to shut off the remote start.

Got it. The smart start module the culprit. Disconnected it and it started up. Had the white plug connected.
Thanks.
