Could use some help from all the wiring gurus. I'm good enough to make any soldering connections and run wires, but want to make sure that I'm about to tackle this properly.
I have installed a remote starter and the manufacturer has indicated that in order to use a 3rd party trunk release button (via drone mobile in my case) that I need to install a relay to the power Liftgate switch in the dash.
Here's what I know so far
AUX trigger wire (specific to trunk release) is the yellow/black wire remote starter, which is 750 mA negative output from the remote starter unit.
CX-5 Liftgate activation wire is the red one behind the switch
CX-5 Liftgate common wire is the green one behind the switch
My question is, does it seem as though a relay is really needed or can this be simplified with only a one wire solution (I think a relay is needed because the open or closing of the Liftgate only happens when the red and green wires are jumped). If a relay is needed, any assistance on the proper wiring diagram would be appreciated. I assume a 4 pin relay will suffice?
Can anyone detail what gets connected to what? The help is much appreciated!
