Remote Start System, 1999 Chevrolet Silverado

Hi i have a 99 silverado with a 4.3 automatic ive been trying to figure out what i need to put a remote start system on it and my truck does not have power windows or power locks and no chip in the key how can i get around that every kit ive found say i need power locks and windows and the bypass requires a chip in the keyUnclegreasey

Take a look at the Prestige APS901Z or Avital/Viper 4115 systems. They are basic one button systems that will remote start your trucks engine. No need to have power door locks. You would continue using your key to unlock the door. As for the bypass module, I'm pretty sure your truck has the Passlock2 system. There is no chipped key but you would need a bypass module. A Directed 556LW would be least expensive but requires some wiring. Best would be an ADS TB-SL or similar. Minimal wiring and easy programming.Soldering is fun!

The 4103 R/S unit used in the Pictorial is somewhat similar to the newer 4105 / 4115 systems.Soldering is fun!

I just did a remote start/alarm on 1999 Silverado. I used this Fortin - PASSLOCK-SL2-V2 - GM Passlock and VATS Transponder Key Bypass Module. for the passlock bypass. Simple to use, no programming or firmware flash, just hook up the few wires and program to the truck. You can use any rs/alarm you want just don’t use the lock/unlock wires because your truck doesn’t have power locks. Power windows don’t matter. You’ll have to wire the remote start connections into the steering column wiring, and there are tons of resources to find diagrams online. I use bulldog security web site if I can’t find exactly what I need here on the12v. Here’s the link to the fortin bypass on amazon. On the 99 Silverado.. how did you wire in the fortin sl2-v2? I hooked mine up like fortin says to but the engine still cranks and dies. Everything else works on the Avital 4105L. Just need to get the sl2-v2 hooked up correctly. I’m getting 5 blinks on the fortin when programming. It says it’s a type 4 and I should only get 3 blinks.-Audi “master guild” Tech/Foreman

OK, I would verify a few things. The SL2 is monitoring the trucks IGN and Starter wires for programming and bypass purposes. It must see the IGN wire come on while in Programming Mode to start watching the Passlock2 Yellow wire for the correct voltage when the ignition switch goes to Start. Those 3 wires connections must be correct along with the ground refference connection for the SL2 to learn the trucks Passlock2 value and store it for future R/S useage. Verify the SL2's Orange and Orange/Black wires are combined and connected to the Yellow Passlock2 wire in the truck. The SL2 Black wire is connected to the Black or Orange/Black Passlock2 ground refference wire in the truck. The SL2 Yellow wire is connected to the trucks thick Pink Ignition1 wire along with the R/S's thick Pink IGN1 output wire. The SL2's Yellow/Black wire is connected to the R/S's thick Purple Starter output wire and the trucks thick Yellow Startewr wire. And the SL2's Blue wire is connected to the R/S's Dark Blue (-) Status Output wire.Soldering is fun!

Ok cool. I believe you nailed it. I had the sl2 ignition wire connected to terminal 15(just key on).. not the pink wire. That must be it. I’ll update this in about 2hours(once I get to the shop). Thank you!!-Audi “master guild” Tech/Foreman
