2008 Toyota 4Runner, Remote Start and Bypass

I’ve got the whole thing wired up and can’t seem to get the 556u to bypass for me. I’ve wired it up using several posts here and everything is working but the bypass. I can get the truck to start with the r/s by holding the key up to the ignition cylinder. After starting the key takeover works as advertised. I’ve got 12 volt on the red and black is grounded and light blue wired to dark blue status (even tried the secondary status), for the antenna I’ve tried all three methods per the instructions. I’m tapping into the green/red and green/pink for the antenna. Is there something I am missing? I’ve been through 2 556’s thinking it might have been a bad box. Yes I have a chipped key in the box and have tried all three keys I have in there and all three work in the ignition. Thanks for any help.

The Standard Immobilizer Interface wiring should work for your 4Runner. With this method, only three wire connections are needed, +12V constant, Chassis Ground and (-) Status Out. Antenna position around the ignition key cylinder / factory antenna is very inportant. The 556U jumper should be OK at 60 windings but might work OK at the 12 winding setting. The key position inside the 556U is very important, too.   Sometimes you have to play around to get the key position and the antenna position just right. I used to secure the key inside the box and the antenna ring with hot glue when everything was working properly. Those issues, cold weather weather problems and increased theft risk with a key in the box make a regular data style bypass module look very attractive. A 556U is only $12 as compared to a PK-ALL or Fortin Key-Override-All at $40 but when you add in the cost of a working factory key the data bypass module is a better choice.Soldering is fun!

Why are you tapping into the Antenna? it's not a german car, Use the supplied RF loop, and call it day.

Found the sweet spot for the loop just now. I can only get it to work by placing it right on top of the clear plastic trim ring. I was trying to keep it out of sight by going further back but could not get anywhere else to work. I’m just gonna epoxy it there and go with it. Thanks for the help.
