i am trying to put a remote start a 98 VW GTI and have everything done, except it will not remote start. i was wondering if anyone knew if there was a immobilizer on this car. i looked it up on wiring diagrams and it did not list any.
thanks

Your car shouldnt have a immobilizer...check your hoodpin,...brake switch( silly i know..but it happens :) )..and your tach wire...the tach wire should be BLACK/ purple at the coil pack, on the right side of the motor towards the front.
With a torch and a big enough hammer...it WILL friggin fit!!

We need more information on why it doesn't start . Does it crank but not actually turn over ? Does it crank and stay running and then turn off ? Need more info.

it does not crack at all, all the lights and stuff come on, but the starter is not getting 12volts. tach, brake, and hood pin are all good, i thought it might be the hood pin so i disconnected it to test, and still did the same thing

no it is an auto.
yes i went through the start up sequence properly.
when i puch the remote start buttons on the remote everything comes on like it is going to remote start, however, i monitered the purple wire coming out of the remote start relay pack (the one hooked up to the starter wire) and it never reads 12volts. so then i checked to see if the brain is sending the negitive singal needed to activate the relay, but it was not.
is it just a bad brain maybe? or could it be something else?
