I installed a Prestige alarm on a 2003 Mustang GT yesterday. For some reason the alarm stays armed about 25 minutes and then it goes off. What could cause this to happen? I wired it up right but do know what could cause this. Thanksw in advance!

im not sure if it effects that car but i would assume it is the ford GEM powering down, you have to isolate the door trigger from the GEM with diodes. What zone does the alarm say was violated the doors? you have to cut the door trigger wires and put a diode inline to block the drop the GEM causes when it powers down from inactivity.

I have two diodes in line now so both doors can trigger when either door is opened. Could it be the Constant power wire off the ignition harness? Should I run a constant right off the bettery for this?

i think the power is fine, what im saying about the door triggers is that the GEM powers down and triggers the alarm into thinking the door was open, you have to cut each door wire and place a diode inline cathode (striped side) facing the door, then hook your other diode that you have inplace on the door side of the diode, this keeps the GEM from interfering with the door trigger, but keeps the factory systems working. you have to do this on both doors.

Again im not too sure if it effects that model and year but someone will be on soon that does. Alarm false triggering? -- posted image. What is the violation zone? does it tell?

You can also use a relay to isolate the door trigger wire from false triggering. Pin 85 to the trigger(+ or - Pin 86 to the oppisite of pin 86 polarity. . Pin 87 to (+ or -) and then pin 30 to the alarm cpu. Have used this in the past and it works great.

I fixed the alarm by installing two 1 amp diodes from the GEM to the switch and putting them inline. Found all the info I needed on Jeff's site and this forum. You guys are the best! Thanks for the help!

hi i have a question , underground how did you connect each wire when you cut them? I tried this on a 2000 sunfire it worked for a little but then it started doing it again.. I cut the drivers side wire and connected the diode to the door wire and then used the other end to connect the alarm neg trigger, another wire off the same end the alarm wire is, to the passenger side wire again the wire that is cut on the passenger i connected to the top of the diode with the wire going away from the door, and then the other side that is going into the door..

Factory security systems suck!

Use diagram one and use the relay to isolate the trigger wires.
