Recently installed this unit in a 2002 Silverado - everything works fine except for a couple of things:

              1. When the truck sets for a few days, the battery goes completely dead. The R/S is always warm, like a relay is always engaged. This ain't gonna work when it gets cold. Also, the unit gets real hot when the remote starter has been on for 30 min. or so.

              2. Can't get the passlock bypass enable wire to go negative. Have tried all the different programming options with no success. Have hardwired the bypass for now & it works O.K.

I don't believe any of the wiring is wrong, because the unit works fine. Do I have a defective unit or is this "just the way it is"???????????

A standard 2002 Silverado? Thats not very common.
What do you have triggered by the orange wire on the unit? If it is triggering any relays, you need to put the other side of the coil to +12v ignition, not constant. Tech support told us to do it that way, or you will get battery drain. How many different things is the orange wire powering? Its not a stronge output, and if using it for more than 2 things you must increase its output capability with a relay.
What model passlock bypass? The RS comes factory with the unit set to send ground on the orange wire when remote started. Might try resetting the unit to get everything back to factory. Key ON-OFF-ON-OFF-ON, hit valet button on antenna once, hit valet button a second time until the horn beeps (if hooked up) 3 times. You must now relearn tach, and all the setting are back to factory.

I have NOTHING powered by the orange wire. Using a PLData bypass, which is grounded by a relay connected to ignition(passlock is always bypassed when running) because the orange wire NEVER goes to ground. I've tried a system reset MANY times with no results.

As for a 2002 Silverado with manual trans. - I ordered it that way because my wife can't drive a standard trans.!!!!!
