Hey Guys,

I just installed a ProStart CT5000 (starter/alarm) into a 97 Ford Explorer.

I have done quite a few remote installes with no problems, except now.

My problem is when I first power the unit up, it goes into alarm mode, meaning the siren is an and the lights flashing.

From here, I can't get the receiver to learn the transmiter code. Eventually the alarm will shut off and go into monitering mode, but as soon as I push the hood switch or turn the key on it will trigger again. I have had no luck trying to get into programing mode or reseting the whole unit. I KNOW my wiring is right and I have exchanged the unit once because I have thought it was defective. I have read the manual FIVE times from front to back and it SUCKS!!

No troubleshooting or anything. Ihave tryed everything I can think of.

Someone here has to know a trick to get this thing to program, its making me look like an idiot in front of the customer...LOL.....

put the module in to then out of valet.

this will shut the siren off....

within 30 seconds ( as is it is set to passive arm)

code the remote.

when you get to the turn IGN ON/ OFF/ ON/ OFF part...

on the the first IGN ON..... stop count to two in your head , then continue.

Hi Dave,

I installed CT-3360 on my Jetta, it is the RS/KE model without the siren. I had difficulty getting the unit to learning the remote transmitter at first. I had trouble with this procedure in the programming: key ON, wait for light to go out, key OFF, key ON, key OFF, press LOCK twice on remote. The parking light did not flash three times as it were supposed to when I pressed LOCK on the remote. So naturally the unit did not learn the transmitter code.

The trick I used around this was, instead of turning the key from ON to OFF, I only turned it to ACCESSORIES, then to ON, then back to ACCESSORIES again. Just substituted OFF with ACCESSORIES. (The key settings on my car: OFF -> ACCESSORIES -> ON/RUN -> CRANK)

I have no idea why that worked, but it worked. :)

Have you installed one of these units?

I couldn't seem to get it into valet mode when the alarm was going off. I'll try again.

Any other tricks I might try out?

valet mode:

key to ign on pos.

within 5 sec.

press the valet button for 1 sec.

remove key.

module is now in valet.

same process as above to get out of valet.
