Hi,

I want to install a keyless entry from autopage.

http://www.autopageusa.com/autopageusarf1055ke.htm

The above website should direct you to the product that will be installed. My question is

I have a 1995 toyota 4runner, and on my suv it has a rear tailgate window that is controlled by a button on the inside of the vehicle, as well as from the outside by inserting the key into the keyhole and turning.

I want to be able to control this tailgate window to go up and down. So ONE window, both directions.

First of all, is there enough functionality on this particular autopage keyless that would allow me to do this?

And second, what type of module if any should I get. I see tons of window modules out there on ebay that sell from $12 -$20, but they seem like they do 2 windows UP OR DOWN. But then they also mention that they work great on sunroofs as well which is kind of what the tailgate window is like, I guess?

However, someone mentioned that the best thing for something like this is to use DEI 529T? Is this correct?

Also, how would any of these modules work in conjunction with my particular keyless. The specs for it can be found in the above website.

My guess is that on some of these cheaper modules, I would have to buy 2? Whereas the DEI, I would only need 1? Is this true?

And how much should I expect an installer to charge to add this on my keyless unit? Is this a difficult task?

Thank you for your time.

Do a search; I've outlined how to roll 4Runner tailgate windows up or down in the past. It requires just one relay, and isn't terribly difficult.
For starters, that trunk-release output from your keyless unit....it probably puts out only a 1-second pulse, whereas it'll take a good 4-5 seconds to move the window. That pulse can be extended with a bank of small capacitors, although it's a little bit of a chore.
Also, I noticed your unit has a domelight supervision output. I've taken advantage of this output in the past to do windows up/down off just one auxillary output.
An installer who's familiar with relays, can use one relay off your domelight output to flip-flop the auxillary channel.......so that at rest, your trunk button does window up, but if you unlock the car (thus turning on the domelight output, thus tripping the relay), the trunk button will now to window down.

Wow,

You seem quite knowledgeable about this stuff.

Unfortunately, I will not be doing this by myself, but getting an installer to do it for me.

If they don't have any experience with this type of project (i.e. they are only used to installing the products they sell themselves), what do you suggest?

I guess what I am asking is what is the "easiest" way to deal with the rear window?

Will the DEI 529T window module make this project easier?

Thanks

I haven't installed any of those dedicated window modules, so I'm not familiar with how long that would take to install. But I do think it would probably be unnecessary for your car.
Pretty much any installer with a better-than-average understanding of relays should be easily able to get the window to go down, especially if you can print my previous post(s) about it and show it to him.
It is not terribly difficult to flip-flop the trunk output, using the domelight supervison output and a relay; again, if the installer can handle relays, he should be able to get this part of it done.
You still have to deal with the possibility that your keyless unit will only have a 1-second trunk pulse, though. It's possibly the 529T can work off a short pulse, but I'm not sure of that.
Also, another problem is that many installers won't install security products purchased elsewhere, or if they do, they'll charge you extra. The reasons are A. they lose the profit from selling the product, B. they're not familiar with your brand, so it'll take more time, and C. if they make an error or the unit happens to be defective, they don't have a replacement on hand.
