I have a 2000 chevy venture. The pkg4 module doesnt seem to be working. the vehicle will remote start if there is akey in the ignition(just inserted). what could be the problem? i programmed it and it blinked 4 times like the sheet says.

Any body know what ignition or other wire energizes the transmission range switch(neutral safety). i dont want to bypass this safety feature but the chapman f60/65 i am installing with all wires hooked up isn't working unless i just ground this wire out. please don't tell me to ground it out.

swap in a known-good PKG4 or PGK5 and reprogram. if it works, then the unit is bunk. if it still doesn't work, then you need to double check your bypass wiring, as you've likely got something going on.

you're powering ALL the ignition leads in the car, right? There are usually several.

Are you sayin that you dont want to ground the neutral safety wire from the remote starter because you think that will bypass a a safety feature of the remote starter? I am pretty sure that you need to simply ground that wire unless you have a vehicle that starts when it is in gear. I am willing to bet that your 2000 Venture will only start in Neutral or Park, so as long as you install the remote starter properly, you will simply need to ground that wire. Your 2 ignition wires should be pink and white, and an accessory wire is orange. That should do just fine.

jrilla's right.

Ground the wire for now, place the car in gear, and attempt to remote start it----you'll see that it will fail to start.

i will try to remote start it in gear and see what happens, but i probably need to have foot on brake, in which case it is probably not going to start.

is it auto or manual shift??? if its auto, usually the car wont start in any other gear other than neutral or park. You can just hook it to a switch to toggle on and off... But if its a manual you must find the neutral wire in the car and wire it to that.

doubt its a manual... usually the neutral saftey wire can be wired to a switch so that you can turn if off for servicing or something... Most autos wont start in any other gear than park or neutral... if you want to try starting it, put the e-brake on, don't put your foot on the brake.. then start it, if it fails... then you can wire it to a switch or ground it...

And if it is a manual shift, YOU MUST, find that wire... I don't know the exact one, but try wires near the shift console if so.

i have a 2000 chevy venture that i would like the auto headlights not to come on if started at night or early morning. does any body know the wire i need to interrupt and its location. i have diodes and the relay and know what wire to use on the unit.

i'm actually working on this for a customer in the survailence trade, these vans light up like a christmas tree when the ignition is on....grin. i have consulted the haynes manual on this one but i might have to break out the AllData. When i get it figured out i will post back...
