Remote Start Safety Issue

I have  a 1986 Honda Prelude 2.0si with a manual transmission, I want to install an Ultrastart 4500M 2-way alarm w/ remote start, My car ( it was like this when I bought it) starts without depressing the clutch, (just like an auto) I was wondering if there is some kind of safety precaution I can install to prevent the car from starting in the event that I forget and park it in gear?

Fix your clutch switch in your Prelude first, then install the 4500-M and it'll be safe.

The broken clutch switch has no effect on the safety of the remote starter. The exit routine you use when you exit the vehicle has to do with safety. Now if your door pins were defective, that would be a safety issue for the remote start.

not to familiar w/ the ultrastart to know if it has any special "idledown" or reservation modes.    possibly the only thing maybe to hook the hoodpin wire into the ebrake,  may need a relay but the principle behind it being if the park brake isn't applied, it thinks the hood is open and wont start.  most vehicles w/ a solid park brake wont get to out of hand even if is left in gear.  if you want a "manual safe starter" let me know.  i can hook you up.

Jworm, i know it doesn't have to do with the remote start, matter of fact, since it starts now without having to depress clutch, that's one less step ya know, i was saying fix it, cuz it sounds like it needs to be fixed anyway, personally, if someone brings a car to me all screwy, i don't install on it...

The clutch switch is not broken, it just doesnt exist. No honda I have ever seen has had one. I'm sure they have them now, but they didnt back then.J Rilla
