How do I determine if my door triggers are (-) or (+)? I have a 1986 Honda Prelude 2.0si. I want to hook up neons so that when I open the door they come on with the dome light .

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but your door triggers are (-). You can double check this by hooking up a Digital Multimeter (DMM) to the correct wire (BLACK/ white wire), and then test it when you open and close the door.

That's right, hook your meters red lead to the door trigger wire, hook the black lead to ground, set meter to volts...
Close the door, if you read 12V when door is closed closed and 0 when open, it's negative trigger, if your read 0 when door is closed and 12V when open it's positive trigger...

You need to use a relay. Hook it up like this:
Pin 85 = to the (-) door trigger wire
Pin 86 = to 12v+
Pin 30 = to 12v+
Pin 87 = to the neon's power wire
So when the door opens, it will send a (-) signal to the relay, and make the relay send 12v+ to the neon's power wire...turning on the neons.
