I was looking at a low cost keyless entry unit to install in my 1972 Cutlass convertible. I decided not to add a security system, as I do not often have it out of my sight when I am out with it, and it is very secure at home. I was planning to get an inexpensive system. I came across the Audiovox APS-45 for around $30. I also see that Audiovox has the APS-45B, which has code hopping (and an extra button on the remotes). I suppose it would be nice to have code hopping for the security benefits, but in my case the extra $70 is not worth it. Are you folks aware of any significant negatives to the APS-45? Should I definitely be looking at the APS-45B or other models instead?
I have the factory service manuals for the car, including the wiring diagrams, so I am set on that.

Go with the Pro-9845B keyless entry from Audiovox. I pay $26 wholesale for them and they are bullet proof. You will probably have a five wire door lock with a car that old. Meaning you will need two relays. Good and reliable keyless. I sell 50 a month and they never come back. The unit is from there Pursuit line which is made for the expeditor and new car dealerships.

Thank you, gents,
I took a peek at this model, and it looks pretty nice. I poked around on the web, and found only one place that sells them. They want $49. Do you have any suggestions about where I could get this any cheaper? I am on disability (kidney failure), so I try to stretch every dollar as best I can.
Again, thanks a bunch for your guidance!
Brett
