I am having difficulty finishing my installation on my 2000 GMC Sierra Bulldog remote start.

I have everything connected, but when I go to start, in tach-less mode it starts and then stops.  It is like it doesn't start for quite long enough.  All of the ignition relays pull in and the accessories work.

In tach mode, it starts very roughly, sort of half runs for three "cycles" and then stops and the ignition relays do not pull in.

I grabbed the tach wire from behind the instrument cluster (I found a reference to that somewhere on this site) rather than from the coil.  Based on many of the posts, it sounds like I do need to be in "tach" mode.  Is this correct?

Thanks much for any and all help.

if theres antitheft on this car, you need to bypass to start successfully, but try sticking the key in the cylinder w/o turning and remote started b4 bypassing the antitheft.

YOU HAVE A PASSLOCK II WHICH MUST BE BYPASSED A MODULE FOR THIS WILL COST YOU ABOUT $50. I JUST INSTALLED A CODEALARM WITH AUTO START ON MY 2003 SILVERADO 2500HD. DO NOT USE TACHLESS MODE YOU COULD BURN UP YOUR STARTER!!

i just installed a crimestopper remote start on an 03 Sierra and had the same problem.  it was the antitheft.  Once I put a bypass which was simple to install it was $38.00 it was also a crimestopper unit.  everything works great.

i posted the tach wire at the cluster method.  its perfectly fine to use.  DEI techs told me to use that as opposed to an injector or messing with finding it at the ECM under the hood as previously listed.  however, the truck does have passlock II.  as soon as you bypass that you should be fine 2000 GMC Sierra Remote Start -- posted image.

Hey thanks everyone for the helpful responses.  I am purchasing the ol' bypass module tonight and should be in business as soon as I get it...

Thanks again.
