04 ford F150 transponder keys

Has anyone had any problems with using a key in a universal keybox when doing remote starts in a new 2004 f-150? I have a buddy who just bought a new ford, and one of the techs at ford told him that he shouldnt have a remote starter installed because when you use an extra key with a keybox, it fries out the security module in the new fords. Im sure the tech is feeding my buddy a line of BS, but ive never touched a 2004 f-150 so i figured i would do some research in this matter before i tell my friend not to worry about it, and then wind up having problems, making me look like a dumbass. Is this vehicle pats, or securelock? or something entirely new for 04'?Mike Battaglia

The reason they told him that is because Ford contracts with Northwest Alarms, and they want just them to install everything.  Did one of those a while back, it it still works just fine.  Go ahead and put the RS in, the ford dealer is full of BS.2005 Toyota Corolla S

I figured ford was just BS'n him about the r/s. just wanted to make sure before i tell him its no problem, and then look like a fool if i have problems with it. i see that you have a 2004 dodge ram. Im suppose to be installing a remote start and alarm in one this week . are there any tips/shortcuts you can offer for me? thanks!!Mike Battaglia

In response to the original question. How could an inductively coupled signal mess up a factory alarm. The worst that could happen would be preventing the car from starting at all due to improper ring position. Maybe thats why all the acronyms from FORD have transpired? Someone pass me that bottle.

Just remember to power up all the igntion and accesory wires, ot you will set off the ABS light, and do not grab the  park light wire at the light switch, if you ope the hood and look at it from the front of the car, look in the left corner by the fire wall, and you will find a BLACK / YELLOW wire, use that as your park light wire, it is positive trigger, otherwise, if you use the one at the light swith, it will turn on the headlights too.  Hope this helps.
