Dakota Keyless Entry Problem

I have successfully installed a Keyless Entry and Remote Start to my 03 Dodge Dakota Quad Cab. Thanks to all the staff, and members of this site. I am having a problem trying to figure out if the doors are unlocked or locked. I have to watch the brake lights each time to verify if locked or not. One blink is locked, and two is unlocked, but I would really like to hear a noise rather then a have to turn around and watch each time. For this issue, I was thinking of going to radio shack and buying a siren to install under the hood, and wire it to the Remote Module output wire that goes into the brake light wire. For this, I was thinking of splicing off the Remote Module Output Brake light wire and running a seperate wire to the siren.  Between the splice and the original keyless entry connection to the brake light wire I was thinking of sodering a one way diode to prevent a power surge going back through the line and setting the siren off, but I am unsure that it will work or not. Would it be better to wire into the horn, or is it just a hopeless matter, and I have to deal with what I have? Please let me know.

You would have been better off buying a module that has horn/ siren out on it.

Problem with using the lights as the chirp trigger, is that the lights come on during remote start run time. hoooooooooooooooooonk !... for like, 15 mins. hehe ( you could use a relay to intrupt the signal while it remote started, but then you dont get chirps while its running... )

You could use the lock and UL pulse to trigger the chirp, but I think you'll find they are a little on the long side. Come to think of it, the light flash pulse would prolly be too long, also.
