hi, i put a dei remote starter into a 01 tundra, and everything works fine excep the remote starter.  it successfully tach learned, and the ignition/accy circuits power up, but the motor never cranks.  i think maybe the brain may be defective, because the starter output never shows power.  i have given the "heavy gauge relay satellite" my own starter signal, and it has cranked the vehicle.

any ideas? or should i just replace the unit

thanks,

connor

meter the heavy violet wire for 12V during crank, if nothing replace the relay, if that doesnt fix it meter the low current negative ( violet in the ribbon cable to sat relay pack) for a ground since this is what trips the crank relay, if no ground you have a bum module

There is a few things to check out. First is your neutral saftey switch, it needs to be grounded, then your hood switch, it may be grounded, third, you may have your starter kill backwards, fourth, the brake wire may be getting tripped, fifth the tach may be reading an over rev reading (this one is very strange, check the shutdown diagnostics and see what it says. it has happened to me a few times) and finally off the top of my head it may need a transponder or if you have one the ring may need to be re aligned.

no, all the above mentioned were fine... if the neutral safety switch wasn't working, then it wouldn't even attempt remote start, same with the hood pin, i didn't install a starter kill.  the brake wire isn't being tripped, because the system remains in remote start mode, it seems to think it's running, it just doesn't crank.  i have determined that the brain is defective, as the violet wire in the ribbon never shows negative output.  if i give it a negative output, it cranks just fine.

thanks everybody
