When looking at the APS996a verses the Clifford RX3.5 they seem pretty similar. I have found the Prestige for 160.00 plus install but the best I have found for the Clifford is about 499.00 installed. Why is they such a difference in prices? I am leaning toward the Prestige do to cost. Is there any reason I shouldn't?

they all are pretty much the same....depends on what features you want....Most of the time people pay for the name.
Remember a unit is only as good as the install its self.

Well in my years of this field...I've seen DEI hold up better than others...that is where the higher prices come in.

Again the quality of the install makes the difference I had a Pursuit (cheap version of the Prestige) install in my 93 Hyundai when it was new. Still works fine to this day.

Audiovox's security products generally offer more features at a lower price than say, Clifford or the rest of DEI's product;
however they tend to be a pain to install and program, require more parts to complete an install(such as extra relays, etc.), and come with owner's and installation manuals that would be harder to understand only if written in hieroglyphics. They're not bad if done right; just make sure you find someone who's done a few of them.
