Hello,i have just bought a 94 caravan and found it had a polarstart car starter in it.It is a handicapped van and the battery was always going dead because the back door would not shut properly. There was a clicking sound coming from a black box marked Polarstart, even when the key was out of the ignition. The fuse was disconnected and the door adjusted. When the fuse was hooked up again the interior lights, radio and power door locks did not work. They worked before the fuse was pulled, the fuse is good.It seems that the power runs through this box before it gets to the fuse panel as some circuits that should have power do not,the fuses are good.Is it possible the black box is junk?If so,can I bypass it to make it all work again? My key FOB only has buttons for locking and unlocking the doors yet this is a car starter?I really need my vehicle to work.Responses would be gratefully appreciated.

How did you check the fuses? Check them with a test light or better a volt meter. Make sure the fuses that are for a battery source actually have power. The fuse may still be visually good, but may not have power to it. The Polarstart unit shouldn't be hooked up in a way that it supplies the van with power. You should be able to completely remove it. Most Chrysler vans have a cable off the battery for these circuits that are dead. Make sure someone didn't unplug it when they serviced the back door. They Polarstart unit may not be a remote starter. It may only be a keyless entry. Check to see if it has more than four heavy gauge wires coming off it. If the wires are all small, then it's probably a keyless. Good luck.
