I purchased a DEI 369D remote start & keyless entry unit to install in a 91 Olds Bravada (Blazer type).  I have the basics completed, but I cannot find the correct wire for the Park/Neutral Switch.  I have already purchased a Chilton and Haynes books, and even given a local mechanic a few bits to print me out the diagrams from an online resource he had.  According to the diagram from the mechanic the wire is Org/Blk, but I see three individual Org/Blk wires under the dash.

The truck won't start (with the key) without the tranny in P or N, is this wire even needed?

Thanks in Advance

No, you dont need a neutral safety wire unmless you have a manual tranny or if the car can start in gear. Just ground that wire (I assume it needs to see ground before it will start the car).

95% of installs are done by connecting the BLACK/ white wire of the unit to one wire of the mini toggle switch that came with the unit. You connect the other wire on the switch to ground. That way you can use the switch as a way to disable the remote starter.
Otherwise, you can just ground it.

Thanks for the help, hooked BLACK/ white to BLACK/ white and grounded the other end.

I havent installed a stereo or anything in ages.

Now all I have to do is figure out the door locks and I should be done this weekend.

I got the starter (DEI 369 D) working yesterday, but I can't figure out the door locks, or rear window release.  I am so confused by the directions that came with the unit.  It talks about a 8 pin connector, when the biggest one is a 9 pin with different color wires.  I tried hooking up the locks as positive, got nothing, then neg, still nothing.  I read through the instructions, then thought I had to hook up a relay, but I am back at the 8-9 pin connector again.  If the directions mentioned the correct wire colors, or harness, I would be done with this thing already.

To top it all off, the wiring diagram I have shows the rear window switch wire as brown to connect to, but both wires on the switch are white, I am so fried, I can't even think whether to hook up to pos or neg on the switch.

Any suggestions, or should I call tech support to complain about the manual?

Thanks again,

Stony

Yeah the directions are really poor, i just read through them regarding the lock module. If you describe the lock module i bet I can figure out how it works, or at least describe to you how to figure out what wire does what. A picture would be better. There is nothing in the manual that even describes how the relay pack gets plugged inot the main unit so i am confused. So if you can just describe how the relay pack plugs into the main unit (with how many wires and what colors) and then decribe any other wires and connectors on the thing I bet I can help.

The truck has 3 wires in the door to the lock switch.  blue, black, & orange.  Orange I am guessing is hot, with blue controlling lock & black controlling unlock.  I stranded back some of the wires, and can lock the doors by tapping blue to orange,  and unlock the doors by tapping black to orange.  I then took the diagram from the manual and put DEi green -lock to the blue, and DEI blue -unlock to black.  I got nothing so I reversed the two thinking that maybe orange was ground, still nothing.

The relay pack has red, blue, and green that plug into the brain.  purple, blue, green, white, and brown out the other end.  According to the relay pack,  purple is lock/unlock, open #87, green lock #30, white lock closed #87a, blue unlock #30, and finally brown unlock #87a.

Any chance I did something wrong in programming the unit to read the locks?  I still have the rear window that wont pop open also.

Typed most of this this afternoon, as things were happening, I just tried one more time and now the truck wont start at all, even with the key, I think the starter (not remote starter) just went, I still have lights etc in the vehicle, but I dont hear any effort to crank the motor.

by the way, the truck is a 4 door.  According to bulldogs website that I just found off another post, the truck locks are type A so my original wiring blue to blue, green to balck were correct.

I must not be programming the unit correctly.

ok, you need to use the relay pack:
purple to 12v+
Green to Lock wire on truck which is Lt.Blue
Blue to Unlock wire on truck which is BLACK/ White
Those two wires are found in the drivers kick panel.
Trunk release is positive and since your output is negative, you need a relay to trigger it.

thank you,  thank you,  thank you.

I figured out why it wouldnt start, the battery cable was loose.  This happened to me once before, thought I had it fixed.

the starter and door locks work, now I will head to the store to get the relay for the trunk release.

Thanks again,

Stony
