Hey guys,

  I'm trying to install a keyless entry into my 1999 Contour.  The car has stock power windows/door locks.  I have tried both using relays and interfacing directly with the wires suggested in the "security" diagrams on the site.  I have tried virtually every wire that is associated with the door locks.  I have had some luck with my relays connected with ground at 87a and the trigger wires coming directly off the switch (WHITE/ Green for lock and YELLOW /GREEN for unlock) excepting that the door will lock fine, but then when I try the unlock button, the doors unlock and then immediately lock again.  If I try directly connecting the brain to the door unlock and lock buttons, the doors continually lock and unlock until I disconnect.  Any help would be greatly appreciated; I have successfully done this before, but only with my own actuators.  This is frustrating :(  8 1/2 hours wasted today...But there's always tomorrow.  Thanks in advance guys!

What is the unit you are installing?
Are you connecting the WHITE/ Green for lock and YELLOW /GREEN for unlock to a good 12 volt source. these are HIGH CURRENT door locks and MUST be driven by relays as shown in the picture below. They are POSITIVE trigger. Your aftermarket actuaters were probably Reverse Polarity. Double check your connections and test for a negative pulse from your lock and unlock wires from the brain also.

If you go to a dealer and can find DEI's part 451m... then you dont need to mess with wiring the two relays.  It makes this install extremely easy.

Follow the diagram posted above. It is correct for your car. Your doorlocks are +trigger.

Thank you guys so much for your quick responses!!!  First, I am installing an Omega Rec 11+.  It's a very inexpensive unit, but I've previously used a rec 8 and it worked fine in my brothers car.  I have used higher end units, but didn't see the point for just a simple lock/unlock. 

Now, let me get this relay setup straight...I won't need a ground to 87a?  I believe I have tried this setup with no luck.  The 12V source I am using is tapped from the 12V+ under the steering column using an in-line fuse; should be good, I tested it and it's what I've always used.  But let me know if you have other thoughts...I'm definitely open to suggestions :)

In this setup, on the unlock relay, 85 is (-) unlock output connected to the brain?

85 and 86 are interchangable. As long as each relay has 12 volts to either 85 or 86 and your brain's (-) negative output pulse on the other terminal. it should work fine. Don't connect 87A to ground. The diagram is correct. Your best bet for a good high current 12 volt source is one of the Main (constant) power wires of sufficient guage.

Well, thanks everyone for the help, but after last night, I can't start the car :(  The engine cranks, but won't start.  I'm at wits end...Gonna check the error codes Tuesday and see where that leads me...After all this electrical messing around, I'm sure that there's an electrical issue...Checked the fuses, but not luck there.  Anyways, I'll keep you guys posted...You've been most helpful!
