1992 Mercedes switch or Aux

Just a quick question for you others, a matter of opinion more or less. Installed a 2 way compustar alarm in a early Mercedes with heated seats which worked off a (-) trigger. But here's the thing, up here in Canada it gets friggin cold. Would you rather have a switch that enables you to turn on the heated seats when remotely started completing this neg(-) circuit or would you rather turn on the heated seats through an Aux channel? If you remote start your car in winter and forget to press an Aux then your seats will not be warm. If you have the switch and accidently turn it on completing the (-) trigger and don't realize it and you remote start your car in summer your a$$ is gonna fry. Any comments?

I would have the option on the AUX channel of the alarm. This way you have to manually go into the AUX channel of the remote to activate the heated seat option. This is something that you can't accidentally do with the system you have there. Having the switch is not a kool either Jeff

I know that you have to go in manually and press an Aux channel but why bother with pressing another button after you remote start it when all you have to do is leave the switch on and turn it off for summer. Why is a switch not "kool"? IMO it's piece of mind. We bypass sirens with a switch so the owner can turn it off and just be paged when their vehicle is being tampered with so they can come out with a bat and take care of some business, both serving a purpose, nah mean? But like I said it's a matter of opinion...to each their own.

So you answered your own question then  Go with the switch, but I just thought it would be cooler if you had the AUX channel to turn on your heated seats with the press of a button instead of having it turn on automatically everytime the remote start is used with the switch on. This way the person has the option of doing this anytime as opposed to having to flick the switch. I'd say stick with the AUX channel because it's still more of a WOW factor than a switch in the dash.Jeff
