Doorlocks on 2004 Colorado

I have not taken the door panel off of a colorado yet to see whats going on in there. If the door locks are using a cable system instead of a rod system, it may be a bit more challenging. I would assume you could use a spal door lock actuator kit and a spal windows kit. If you only want the locks to work with your alarm you wouldn't need the kit, just pickup the actuators themselves (2 or 4, depending on how many doors your truck has) and 2 relays. Instead of the 2 relays you could also buy a DEI 451M module which is pretty much the same thing. The wiring for either system is not too bad it's just mounting the parts themselves (the actuators and the window motors and switches). Not sure how much 12volt background you have, but this might not be a good first project.. Where are you located anyway? Maybe someone here could give you a hand or at least offer some advice. Mike

I'm in Mesa, Arizona, I'll look into what suggested for parts. I think these trucks do use a cable for the locks, but  I read on another forum that you can hook the actuators directly to the lock/unlock knob in the truck, supposedly theres a hole there already.

Look where the cable actually goes to the latch, if you look hard enough you will see a small loop made of plastic. This is where a factory actuator would go so what you should do is bend the actuator rod and run it through this loop and mount the actuator accordingly. You need a relays or a DEI 451M relay module to make the actuators work. No idea for your power windows.Certified Security Specialist

thanks for the help, i ordered the DEI 451M and 2 actuators off ebay for about 25 bucks total shipped, so this should be great. One last question... I'm obviously going to have to run wires into my doors to power the actuators... what's the easiest way to do this on a truck where it doesn't have wiring running into the doors?

Run it through the door boot, there is a plug where it meets the body but there is an empty spot you can go through.Certified Security Specialist

duh i forghot it had speakers in the doors. Thanks for the help. Is there a special tool i need to remove my manual window cranks and get the door panels off?

A hook pick tool works the best for that peticular door and is only 99cents at most places. Almost forgot one thing, you will need to roll the window all the way up and unbolt the window track closest to the door latch to make room to work.Certified Security Specialist

Ok, thanks for your help, where would I get that tool at? Autozone? Also how do i use it to get the crank off?
