I am in desperate need of help.  I have installed the crime guard alarm system w/ remote start to my '87 190e 2.6.  The car has a factory alarm that would go off while i was driving when I used the remote unlook option and not the key.  I was able to locate the GREEN/ YELLOW (i believe the disarm) wire coming directly from the factory alarm box, which is where I then connected to the disarm wire (negative pulse) coming from my new alarm...

Problem....when i try remote start after disarming, the factory alarm and new alarm goes off.  So I unhooked the factory alarm plugs (two of them) and now my new alarm still goes off and cuts of the starter when i try to remote start.

Questions...what is the correct way to disable the factory alarm and any idea what is keeping my remote starting from working?

Please help!

thanks

1 A purple starter wire is available in the drivers kick panel. This wire SHOULD NOT be used with remote start installs, as it is on the wrong side of the neutral safety switch.  *2 The diagnostic connector is covered by a black round cap and is located between the LF headlight and the shock tower.  *3 BROWN / gray for front and gray/black for rear. The rear doors can also be found at the dash mounted rear dome light switch (gray -).  *4 The anti-theft unit is located in the passenger footwell under a plastic cover against the firewall.

You do not need to connect anything to the factory disarm if you have connected the lock/unlock wire correctly. Because it is the same thing as using the key, it already disarms your factory alarm. I just went through these issues installing a clifford matrix 3.5 remote start security system in my 87 300E. Use the wiring diagram on this website for your car and it will tell you where the wires are located as well as their colors.

Good Luck!

Your door unlock/lock pulse needs to be changed to the 3.5 second setting versus default setting of .8 sec. If not, it nay not disarm your alarm since it won't unlock the door.

boom, boom, boom boom....
