I got this aftermarket alarm and two front door locks installed on my truck. The doors lock when I start the engine or arm the alarm, and they unlock when I stop the engine or disarm the alarm. I am not sure which type of door lock actuators I have but I wanted to add a switch in the cab that lets me unlock and lock the doors. I didn't want to pay the $50 the shop wanted cuz I think it's a rip off.

One of the installers told me to find the red wire with a white stripe on the alarm's brain and ground that wire to lock the doors. And ground the black wire with a white stripe to unlock the doors. He said to find a switch with 3 poles and ground the common pole then connect each of the two opposite poles to the wires on the brain. He also said to use a diode on each wire, can anyone tell me exactly how to do this?

If it will help to take apart my door panel and get a closer look at what I have so anyone can help, I'll do that, please let me know! Thanks!

are the locks aftermarket? what type of alarm is it? you can use a 2 wire push button. ground out one wire and hook the other one to the lock wire on your alarm. you can do the same with the unlock. most alarms have blue and green wires to lock and unlock.

The locks are aftermarket and the alarm is Devastator which you probably haven't heard of because I couldn't even find it on the internet. I can't find a the type of switch I need for a reasonable price, you know anywhere where I could get one? What I have done so far is use two seperate momentary push buttons and grounded one post on each then ran the other wires to lock and unlock. The diodes are also in place. I guess the only problem I have now if finding a good switch. Thanks if you can help.

Where can I get a real power door lock switch for a reasonable price? www.a1electric.com has one but it's $20 and that's a lot for a switch. The only nice thing about it is that it comes pre-wired so it makes installing it easy.
