Here it goes. I bought a Clifford Concept 400 from someone and the closest installer is more than 200 miles away. I live in Knoxville, TN, if anyone is around there maybe you can help..:-)   Due to the lack of insatllers in my area I have decided to try to take on this install myself. Being my first install, I need all the help I can get, and this seems like the perfect place to get it. My first problem is, I dont want to take the whole dash off, is there a way to avoid this? I also would like to know what you guys use to tap into wires, what kind of connectors. Anything else I should know please tell me, and will I need to learn about diodes, relays, and resistors, or are they all built into this system?? Like I said, this will be my first attempt at anything like this, so any shortcuts, hints/tips, or help would be greatly appreciated. I am sure I will think of more questions later so please help and bare with my guys. I have been reading posts here for a while and this seems like a really nice group of people. Oh, BTW I have a 1993 Nissan 240sx..no PL, no PW. Basiically I am insatlling an alarm with remote start(Cliffords IntelliStart4 I think is what I am gonna try to get) . First off, you dont have to take the whole dash off, just the lower cover under the steering wheel. Secondly, pretty much all the relays you'll need are built into the alarm itself, so no need for additional relays unless you want to install a trunk pop solenoid or headlight control.
Use butt connectors only if you have a good crimping tool (klein or equivalent), otherwise stay away from them. Definitely stay away from t-taps. If unsure, solder your connections and use heatshrink or tape.... last thing you want is an intermittent or broken connection.
Lastly, just out of curiousity... you running a KA or SR? Clifford Concept 400 -- posted image.

KA..I just got the car last month...I am planning on going for KA-T...that will be in the future though...Thanks for the help.. I think I may try to do this.this weekend. Which connectors would you reccomend? I can always go buy a good crimping tool for the butt connectors. Not a pro at soldering so I dont think that would be a good Idea..:-) Thanks again for the help, Mav

I've used these butt connectors, and this crimper for the past 10 years. Both personally and back in my install days at the shop.
To splice into a wire, just cut the wire you're slicing into and twist it together with the alarm tap wire. Insert twisted wires into a butt connector and crimp. Reconnect the original cut wire by crimping it into the other side of the butt. Always zip-tie the wires down and make sure there is nothing pulling on them and you'll be fine. As long as you strip and insert wire into the butt well and crimp down hard, you'll never have a problem with your connections.

Cool, I am wanting to probably piece together a turbo kit...i dont have the money to buy a premade one... How much boot are you runnin? and and any internal work??   We are way off topic on this one..lol

Ok, I got this alarm and the wires are all hacked to crap...there are a couple that I have no idea what go to and are not connected to anything..just a 10 pin harness...but I need to know if I can get replacement wires somewhere...Thanks, Mav

Well the molex connectors used in the alarm are actually standard connectors and not proprietary. If you have a good electronics shop you can probably find them there, or might be able to get them off digikey.
However you shouldn't have a 10 pin harness. There should be two harnesses with your alarm. One's a 24 pin, and the other is a 14 pin. If you have enough lead on each wire coming out of the harness, you can extend them and use the install manual to determine what wires are which. If you don't have the manual, click
here. Otherwise, post back here, and I'll verify the wiring for you if you're still not sure.
Yep definitely way off topic here, but no internal work on my engine setup yet. As long as you have good fuel and timing management, your KA should hold up to 10-14 pounds boost on stock internals. Currently I'm at 6 pounds of boost, but once my new ECU tune comes in, I'll run it up to 10-12 pounds.
