These are different types of electrical systems available to actuate door locks to unlock & lock. When a car is referred to have a negative door lock system, that means that the lock and unlock wires require a (- pulse to activate them to lock or unlock. This goes the same for the (+) system. The reverse polarity door locks are wires straight through to the motors as opposed  to the other systems that are wired through a relay system.
