so i just installed my second remote starter,

its in a 99 vw beetle. problem is that it cannot be started while locked or the alarm goes off. i do have a secuity bypass wire that i didnt hook up, since i was recently looking for WHT/BLU (from bulldogsecurity.com)

from 12volt.com i am now looking for BLK/BLU which says,

ignition power for factory alarm open w/ relay.

can somebody explain what this means ?

there are other similar stories i found in here, but none of them seemed to have a solid reply.

the 99 doesnt have the transponder, i would have though i could just connect the wire, presuming i could find it, do i need a relay?

**** A single pulse disarms the alarm, a double pulse will also unlock all the doors. FOR REMOTE START: The vehicle can be remote started without disarming the factory alarm by using a relay to open the BLACK/ VIOLET wire (ignition sense) at the alarm module during remote start. You will also have to run your remote starter's start output directly to the starter relay RED / BLACK on the back of the fusepanel to bypass the factory starter kill.

ok, sounds good.but i have some more questions, as i am noob.

1) is there a specific type or relay i will need, and where can i get one

2) does this mean that the alarm bypass wire from the remote start unit goes both to the relay and to the RED / black wire on the back of the fuse panel, or does the RED / black also need to be attached to the relay?

i suppose im not clear on what the starters start output is. could you explain that a little more. thanks for all your help.
