Hello,

I recently installed a DEI 506T audio sensor, along with a Viper 791XV alarm. Everything is working as it should (including the shock sensor), with the exception of the 506T. When I arm the alarm, I receive a bypass notification on zone 4. Also, the 506T will not trigger the alarm.

Note: The 506T is connected to the 791XV using the three-connector harness that comes with the 506T. The shock sensor and the 506T are both connected to the harness., The shock sensor is on zone 2, the 506T is on zone 4.

I have tried adjusting the 506T, but still receive the bypass notification. I am starting to think that my 506T is defective. Can anyone comment on my situation? Am I missing something? Are there any undocumented setup/installation procedures?

Bill,

Do a simple test of the unit. Unplug the impact / shock sensor from the alarm unit.

Only plug in the new 506T. Arm the alarm, wait 3 seconds and impact the window with your keys, with successive hits.

Does the unit sound? No . . Increase the sensitivity, rearm, wait 3 seconds, and repeat the impact test.

If the alarm system indicates a bypass at any point in time, then yes the unit is defective.

I finally had a chance to spend more time troubleshooting my 506T bypass problem. What I found was that the interior siren chirp was causing the 506T to bypass. I turned off the arm/disarm chirp and the 506T is no longer bypassed when I arm the alarm.

I hope this bit of information helps someone else.
