I have an 04 Silverado Ext. Cab.  I spent the weekend installing an AG4 from Clifford along with the 456G and the 555L.  Everything works fine except the Remote Start.  When I initiate the remote start, the parking lights  blink twice, and when the engine is supposed to crank, the parking lights stay lit, but no crank.  I verified that I'm getting 12V from the AG4 Control unit and the Intellistart unit, but it still doesn't crank.

When I start it with the key, it works fine; no problems whatsoever.  You know when you drive somewhere and make a quick pit stop and keep the car running with the remote start?  Well, that works too.  I can even turn it off with the remote.  I'm confused, and need to get this car running by tomorrow morning, since I have to take my bro to work and school, as well as me working.

Can anyone please help me?

The only thing I can think of (it just hit me) is that when I cut the Starter wire in the truck, instead of wiring the remote start starter outputs to the BCM, I might have wired them to the keyside.  I'll check that right now.

Thanks in advance.

Jaime

Oh, I already programmed the RPM monitor without any luck in the Remote Start Problem.  I used the white wire behind the Instrument cluster as my Tach source.

Sorry for the long post.

Pit Stop will work if your 555L is not programmed, because U have started with Factory PassLock

Probably should check 555L wiring again and programming

Ok...I DID connect the Starter wires backwards.

Now here is another problem.  When I remote start, it will crank, and start for maybe half a second and then dies.  Again, it WILL start with my key with no problems.  I dont' have a "security light" flashing at any point during the Remote start or normal starting using the key.

When I hooked up the 555L to the 5 wires, I got them from the key cylinder.  They were yellow (Resistor code), solid black (Ground Reference for Passlock), RED / white (don't know), tan(dont' know), and light Green (keysense?).  I cut the Yellow wire, and connected the BLACK / YELLOW of the 555L to the BCM side, and the yellow of the 555L to the ignition side.  The black of the 555L is connected to the Black Passlock wire.

I have verified all fo these connections...they are all soldered, as well.  Any help would be appreciated.

I didn't know that the 555L had to be programmed.

How do I do that?

Did U meter the Yellow wire on the Key side?

Am I looking for a reisitance?  I guess this is specific to my  car, right?

Let me try that.  Should I reference that measurement to Chasis ground, or the Passlock ground?

Thanks.

OK...I didn't get any resistance with reference to Car ground or Passlock ground when checking the yellow from Keyside (with or without key in start position).

Now, I think I have to wait those ten minutes becuase it won't start with the key after trying to remote start it a few times.

(sighhhh...I'll try again in a couple)

Thanks

When I meter the yellow wire from passlock, I get 2.101 Volts when running wiht key, and 5V when I take the key out.  Is this normal, or should I be getting a resistance?  If I ohm it out, I get open.

I read somewhere that when the truck is running normally, and you cut the yellow wire that you suspect is the correct R-code wire, then the Orange padlock "security light" will go on.  I did this and it behaves accrording to what I stated above.  The only other wire there is the black one, which is GND, but is not the same as the Car ground.  There is about 18-20 ohms difference between the two.  Since this is the wire that I traced from the Key cylinder, then I'm assuimng that I have the correct one.  There where a total of 5 wires coming from that point, and I traced them down to the Steering column.

I'm running out of things to check.  Any ideas?

Thanks

Jaime

OK, guys...I got it....I dont' know what I was thinking...maybe just anxious to get my alarm finished..

On the 555L, I had all of the connections right EXCEPT, I connected the Pink Ignition wire to the Keyside (after cutting it, per AG4 Requirements) instead of the BCM side...damn, that makes two major mistakes for this install...my last AG4 install (on my 94 Accord) was perfect...I wonder what happened this time!

Anyway, thanks for all of you help guys.

Jaime
