04 Ram 2500 p-up with Cummins Turbo Diesel.  Thanks to all for all the good info that made me even think I could do this install myself.

I installed Valet 554R 2 -way alram and RS.  Truck has factory keyless entry and Security system.  I'm trying to use the factory Arm/Disarm wire to work the factory system and door locks.

Most of the system worked good when I was done except for a few small problems.

        1. Will not unlock and / or disarm factory system at all, but will disarm factory system so that starter is not disabled when RS comes on. I have it hooked up to Light GREEN/ black in the 3 pin Aux harness, and I also tried the RED / white of the primary harness through a 480 ohm resisitor.  It will lock and arm the factory system using the Blue programmable output wire through a 2k resistor.

        2.  For some reason the headlights come on whenever the parking lights flash.  I have it wired to Neg through WHITE/ Light green wire at the headlight switch with a 330 Ohm resistor.  I saw another post that said to use a 2.7k OHm resistor instead .  Will it hurt anything to try that?

       3.  I can't find any info about where to hook up the wait to start wire.  My All data says that the Bulb is controlled by PCI Bus.

Anyone?  Please?  It's hard to type today since I burnt my fingertips taping up those hot soldered joints.

1. In order to unlock using the PURPLE / blue wire in the car, you need to set your unit for double pulse unlocking. If it doesn't have it, you want to use the PURPLE / dark green wire for a single pulse with a 330 or 340 ohm resistor. Then you would also want to hook up the OEM alarm disarm wire from your module to the PURPLE / blue with a 420 or 480 ohm resistor inline. Depending on your module and what kind of outputs it has, you may need to use relays, or diodes and different value resistors. Also for unlock, you should be using the green unlock wire from the module not sure why your using other wires. DEI normally wants you to use relays with their door lock outputs so this could be part of your problem.
2. For the parking lights I'm showing a 249, 330, or 2.7k ohm resistor. You could try any of them it shouldn't hurt anything. Just don't activate the parking lights with the switch itself unplugged.
3. I'm not showing any information on the wait to start wire. All the units we install have a dedicated diesel mode which just waits 30 seconds before attempting to start the engine. When there is no useable wait to start wire, DEI wants you to use their 528T pulse timer module.
Good luck,
Mike

I show that a 470 ohm resistor to that wire turns on the headlights, and a 270 ohm resistor turns on the parkinglights. But I also show you need to cut the wire and use a relay to isolate the switch side from the light side.
Pin 86 to positive parking light output from alarm
Pin 85 to ground
Pin 30 to Lamp side of WHITE/ green wire
Pin 87a to switch side of WHITE/ green wire
Pin 87 to the 270 ohm resistor then to ground
For the locking/arming and unlocking/disarming control, I show that there is a PURPLE / Blue wire that will unlock and disarm thru a 450 ohm resistor (1st pulse disarms, 2nd pulse unlocks) and lock and arm thru a 1.8K ohm resistor. I have a picture if you want to see it. Email me for it, dont PM me. There is a link to my email in my profile.
Glow plug wire is BROWN / Orange (+) at right side of engine. Actually the note says right side , but the picture looks like it is more to the left.

I have the Direct wire wiring information that says that the Factory arm/disarm wire will also unlock the doors just like using the factory remote.  Thats why I don't have any door lock wires hooked up at all. I figured that it would double trigger the door locks using the factory arm/disarm wires and also the door lock wires.  Or I thought if I just used the door lock wires and not the factory /disarm that the vehicelwould not remote start because of the factory alarm.

I did tie into the purple blue wire with resistors, the arm/lock with the 2k resistor works good, but I cant get it to disarm/unlock unless I use the factory remote.  I used a 480 ohm resistor and is set for double pulse.  I tried using the  the factory disarm lt/green and black (thats the wire color on the DEI module) .  I thought if I used the door lock wiring for this it would not work without relays because it can send a positive pulse which I dont think would be good.  Also, I saw that DEi says you have to use relays, but the factory system uses relays already. So from their diagram to use a relay to control the negative signal of another relay does not make sense to me.

I also cant find anywhere that I can just set a 30 sec delay for the remote start.

Just an update for anyone interested.

I fixed the headlights coming on with the parking lights by using a 250 Ohm resistor instead of 330 or 270 and it worked like a charm.

I also got the Arm/Disarm to work by using the Door lock relay they sent me wired up the same as if I was going to wire into the door lock wires. I thought because I wasn't wiring to the door lock wires I wouldn't use that relay  DUH!

They also said that I needed a $12 timer module to wire into the wait to start wire.  I just wish I'd known that ahead of time.

Thanks again for the tips.

parklights, WHITE/ silver, main harness under dash positive.
You have to use the unlock wire as the disarm will not double pulse.
you can use the rearm wire the arm/lock the factory alarm.
You can do wait to start with a simple cap and resistor to give a 15 second delay, you need a 4700mF cap and a 6Kohm resistor.
The negative on the cap goes to one of the status outputs, the positive to the wait to start wire, they resistor goes in parallel with the cap.

Thanks Shaughn, you just explained perfectly what I did wrong on Saturday, no double pulse from the disarm wire.  I hooked it up just using the door lock relay to the Disarm/Arm wire in drivers kick panel with the two resistors and it worked like a charm.  I already ordered the Pulse timer for the delay start .  Since I don't really know what I'm doing I'll just go with that.  Thanks for the tips though.

NO problem, I do about 4 of these trucks a week. It's one of those in my sleep vehicles.
