I am deciding on paging unit either astrostart 5204u or compustar 900mhz(newest one).
I know both of them are top of the lines units but what is the best one for our winters?
and whats easyer to install?
thanks

I have not installed the AstroStart 5204U unit yet, but with my experience with the Compustar, I would say that it is very installer friendly and also the range would be very beneficial in Canadian winter's. I live in Manitoba and I have installed other compustar units before with no customer comebacks on any of the remote starter units that I installed.

The Compustar I installed was very solid and relatively easy.   With the spread spectrum technology the range is unbeatable.  I wasn't a big fan of passive arn\ming untill I had one of these.  You could disarm it from so far away that I became worried I would by accident and not know it. With the passive arm set to on its a little more peace of mind.

I would buy this unit again anytime.

I've installed lots of both except for the brand new compustar

Astrostart is easier to install, built-in doorlock relays and such. Astro has prob twice the features and much less problems then compustar, but not as popular or easier to get parts. Their warranty is fantastic, where I have had alot of problems getting replacement parts for compujunk. Compustar is alot cheaper(my cost anyway), and u don't need an extra module for a manual, and better range.

Both pretty good. But my choice is Astrostart by far. IMO Canadians know how to make car starters.

Hmmm, I for fact have got a 2k range on my compujunk...... Never have had a warranty claim or the need for parts either. The new model will do both manual or automatic.

The Compustar doesn't require an extra module for the manual transmission mode. Just leave the jumper wire uncut.

The  universal type module where you loose a key to the ignition system is available or the PKU-F2 where you program two active keys to the module to bypass the EPATS. Also, with the Compustar you don't need to hook up any nuetral safety wire because you can not operate the remote start sequence without going into ready mode. Ready mode ensures that the car is in nuetral before exiting.

Compustar has always worked on a manual or auto... not just the new ones.
