Remote Start 04' Civic

I had recently installed a Crimestopper CS-2011 remote start and alarm unit in a 04' Honda Civic. I normally hook this unit up using the smart tach mode which you do not need to actually hook up a wire to the tachometer. But after doing a few like that I ran into some problems where the car doen't seem to start all the time. Mainly in real cold temps. So on the Honda I decided to go straight to the tach wire which was blue/wht at the battery under the hood. Anyway heres the problem....The car sometimes starts on the first attempt and continues to run for the duration. Other times it starts and then shuts down after a few seconds, but usually starts and runs fine after the 3rd and final attempt. But now the customer is saying sometimes after the 3 attempts it still doesn't run and they must press the remote start button again to get it to start? any suggestions? And yes I did install the bypass unit for this vehicle.

tach is blue at the test connector near the battery. it's the only wire in the plug. Sounds like thats your problem. You can also use an injector wire if you want.  Either should remedy the problem.John J. DiStefano Jr.

TACH SENSOR BLUE ( - ) AT COIL *3 *3 - It is a 2 pin plug to the passenger side of the battery. Those are the specs I used and yes the wire was blue, not blue and white like I stated earlier.

Audiovox units have a diagnostics feature in the menu that will tell you why the unit failed to start, does the crimestopper unit have this? I always use that single blue wire for tach. I have an 03 civic si and had a similar problem. In cold temps the ring on the bypass I was using was what was acting up. For some reason in cold temps. (Live in michigan) it did not want to start once in a while. I repositioned the ring and all is well.

Yah, I have heard that in really cold weather that the chip bypass might not work right. Thats probably the problem not the tach wire. Good Luck! tim

if u have bypass for ring make sure it's snug around cylinder and tape wouldn't interfere with ring AudioPro111
