I am trying to intall a remote starter on my 2001 silverado.  This is the first one I have attempted to install.  I went to an installation shop (best buy) and they sold me a 555L GM Passlock Remote Starter Interface.   The question I have is on what wires do I hook to (color and location) on the truck to wire this and the remote system in.  Any help someone could offer would be great.

ok since I have done maybe 50 of these trucks i'll try and shed some light on your starter delima... Take the shroud that surounds the dash radio and stuff off... it just releases by clips... then there are 2 7mm screws below to take off the knee pannel... takes those out... then there is a metal bracket type protector thing being held in with 4 10 mm nuts take those off exposing the main ignition harness of the truck... In this harness you will find some small wires maybe 16 gauge and some wires of a bit more size maybe 12 gauge the smaller wires your looking for are a orange wire with a black stripe... and a yellow wire side by side or fairly close to each other these are your passlock wires... How you test for them is by taking off some of the jacket of both wires but not letting them touch and taking your digital multi meter and putting the black probe into the ORANGE / black wire and red probe into the yellow wire... Once you put the key in the ignition you should read anywhere between 4ish volts up to maybe 5.5 volts... when you start the vehicl with the key the voltage should change and you should have a steady reading of anywhere between .5ish volts to 4.5ish volts... try this about 3 times (start and shut off with the key) to make sure the voltage isn't jumping around but everytime it should be the same maybe .001 off... any other questions just ask... i'm not too familiar with the starter your installing but I can sure try and help you with wire location! good luck!!

You also need to make sure that you have both ignition lines hooked up or you will totally screw the tranny. If you finally get the passlock interface working and the truck will remote start, take it for a quick boot. If it does not shift right, stop immediately and turn off the vehicle. Restart it using the key and it should shift fine. This is due to the second and sometimes third ignition line not being powered up on remote start.
Top Secret, I can tell you but then my wife will kill me.

Yeah you should have 12 volt wire you need to power up off your passlock bypass also you should have another wire beside it of the same size to power up your second ignition this should be a white wire in a harness comming from the left side of the dash from behind the fuse box. The harness follows on top of the metal brace in the dash and should have a brown wire (second accessory), a orange wire (first accessory) and I think a small light green wire (dunno what its for i've never tested it there?)... I thought you were just asking where the passlock wires were... if you need any more help with the rest of the wire locations or what nots give me a shout back!!
