1999 Mercury Cougar intermitent success

I have run across a 99 Mercury Cougar that won't always start It will start 4 or 5 times then show the code light, I've tried to change the remote starter to a new one, to another model starter and still the same response. I've tried testing the ground out when running  on all three units and it tests ok. I've also tried a new bypass including three different types of bypasses all together including a key in the box and I still get 4 or 5 starts then a code light. Does any body have any insight on this problem or has any one run across this problem before. Thanks in advance."never the master always the student"
