Making a police siren become the alarm output

Hello,

I am a Vol. firefighter so I can have a siren in my car. I was thinking of making a dedicated siren left on the ON position so when my alarm is triggered it will be a very loud and attention getting sound.

To hook up a siren all that is needed is power, ground, and 2 speaker wires.

What do I have to do to get it to work with a prestige APS25KB.

My friends paid the local installer $150 for just this option, it also has a distinctive arm/disarm chirp since the siren is activated for a second.

Please help me out with this. The last time I tried I blew the siren output to the brain.

No it doesnt,

I have a speaker for the siren, that is not the problem.

If I leave the siren on and when power is given it will sound off, but how do i connect it to the alarm system?

You should disconnect the alarm siren first.

Then you should test the wire that is coming from inside. (There should only be one output for the alarm siren)

The wire should read positive when the alarm is triggered.

You can then hook it to the red wire of your police siren, and ground the black wire to the metal of the car.

*** You should really use a relay. Hook it up between the alarm output and the siren. The reason for this is that you can blow your alarm output because the police siren needs to draw more power. A second reason is that the siren might not be so loud as expected.

*** Note: The siren may interfere with the alarm's transmitters causing them not to work properly. The alarm might be triggered and the transmitter may not be able to shut off the alarm. This is due to the frequency of the police siren.

I originally blew the output by not using a relay.

What type of relay should I use?

I really dont know much about relays.

Can you go into more detail of how and where i should connect the wires

- connect 85 to ground

- connect 30 to positive (fused to the battery)

- connect 86 to the alarm output

- connect 87 to the red wire of your siren

What do you mean crimp properly?

Also what type of relay is it?

SPDT Relay  : (Single Pole Double Throw Relay)

Oh that's just my little saying. Some installers don't realize that there is "right way" to crimp the connectors on to the wires. Most  problem jobs that I had to trouble shoot were caused by poor connections.
