2000 Mitsubishi Galant Starter problems

I recently installed a Boa 265b keyless entry/remote starter in my Galant.. Everything works fine.. Or so I thought! On the first day of testing, everything worked..   Now... Sometimes the remote starter cuts off after about 5-10 seconds.. This problem does not happen all the time. It seems as though it only happens when it's cold outside. After the car is warmed up, and I test the remote start, it seems to work fine. Can this be related to learning the techometer? The instruction manuel states that to program the tachometer, start the engine and let it run for at least 30 seconds. If the tachometer is seen by the control module, it will enter tachometer mode, and will moniter the tachometer input for the next startup...   If this was the case, wouldn't the tachometer be "learned" after every time the car is driven? In order to for the tach to be learned, should I reset the whole unit, program the remote, then start the car??? Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!!

30 seconds is not long enough. Disconnect the tach wire from the remote start and then let it idle for at least 5 minutes or until the car has reached it's lowest idle RPM. Reconnect the tach wire and let the system learn the lower idle tach setting. This will solve your problem.Jeff

Should I reset the whole unit by pulling the fuses, or disconnecting the battery before i unplug the tach?

If there is a procedure that will reset the unit back to default settings. Not sure on this unit, but most of new units retain the remote codes as well as user presets after battery has been disconnected. Only through programming out the user functions can the unit be set to default settings. Try just pulling the fuses to reset the unit.Jeff
