I'm trying to add a remote start module that a friend gave me. It is a Valet model 551T. The wiring diagram at the Directed Electronics website has a different layout than the module I have. Mine has a 12 pin and a 5 pin harness as well as 4 internal switched accessed under a slide away door.

Does anyone have a wiring diagram for this layout? All of the relays are wired already.

Thanks!

here is the layout for the 551t:

12 pin harness:orange=( -) accessory output (to optional relay),blue/black=(-)ignition2 output, tan=(+) shutdown input (both tan wires have same function), white=Tach input, gray=(-)shutdown input(both gray wires have same function), BLACK/ white=(-)nuetral safety input, WHITE/ blue=(-)activation input, blue=(-)status output when active, yellow=(+)12v ignition output to RF system, black=(-)chassis ground

5 pin harness:red=(+)12v constant, violet=(+)starter output, orange=(+)accessory output, pink=(+)ignition output

dip switches are for programming # of cylinders for vehicle switch positions are for sw1,sw2,sw3 respectively.0*=off,off,off ; 1=on,off,off ; 2=on,on,off ; 3=off,off,on ; 4=on,off,on ; 6=off,on,on ; 8=on,on,on.

*the 0 cylinder setting will crank the engine once for 2seconds, and then stop.  If the vehicle's engine starts, it will still continue to crank for the full 2second period without overrev protection.

switch 4 controls running time.  For 12 minutes of run time, turn sw4 on.  For 24 minutes, turn sw4 off.

Hope this helps you out.

I also have the same one. I don't have any remotes for it. Is there a way to program another remote for it? I have another newer Valet starter also which has 2 remotes with it. I could use one of them with it.

Also, if I can't use another remote, I know I can run it off an alarm. What wire on the starter would I use from the alarms 3rd channel.

My viper 600 I know has this.

the 551t does not come with remotes, it is for adding on to keyless entries or alarms.  which yellow wire are you referring to?

In my literature for the older 551t, there is no mention of a yellow wire on the 5 wire harness, however on the newer models it appears that the yellow in the 5 wire harness is an ignition output (to rf system).  More accurate wire diagrams for the newer 551t can be found at http://www.directed.com/guides/pdfs/N551T.pdf.
