hello there.

been trying for 3 days with no luck, please help!!

i'm installing an aftermarket alarm/remote start system in my car. i have the alarm working fine but can't get the power locks to work. i have posted the door lock diagram from my alarm install manual, can anyone please tell me which figure to use?

also for the remote start i need to locate the oil indicator light wire under the dash. the remote start must be hooked into this or it won't work. anyone know where i can find this wire? i have already tried to ground it instead with no luck.

here is the diagram. and thanks in advance

let me guess.. this alarm needs +12 when runnin..   i answered this question before in anohter post... check out this diagram for a 12v monitor..
http://www.s10forum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=111646
Dont put an led in there.. set it up with 2 relays instead.. meter it out and adjust the pot switch so that when theres 14v(or whatever voltage ur car shows when its running) it puts 12 volts to the wire..   and then hook up another relay and have that ground out the wire when its under the 14v..   this is what that other alarm needed.. not so sure its what urs needs but it will work..

thanks very much for the reply, but your way over my head here.... why do i need that 12v montior just to get the power door locks working? can not one of those figures on my diagram suit my car?

Power Lock      WHITE/ red       +       factory alarm plug
Power Unlock      blue/red       +       factory alarm plug
Notes: The alarm plug is a black 12 pin plug located just behind the glove box. It is mounted with the pins facing you atop a vent just to the left of the body computer.
Just need to put 12volts to that.. just meter it out and it should work.. if ur lock and unlock wires are negative.. u need to switch the polarity on them using relays..
85 - 12v
86 - lock or unlock trigger from alarm
30 - 12v
87 - to lock or unlock wire

thanks for the reply.

i know my vehicle is + for both lock and unlock (positive pulse). the below is from the manual.. do i need a relay?

Orange -> Central lock module

white -> Unlock^

Yellow -> Negative

Orange Black -> Central lock module

White Black -> Lock^

Yellow Black -> Connect to Yellow for close circuit

The yellow black is connected to the yellow, and then yellow

connected to the common line. This way the circuit is "closed";

otherwise the connection won't work.

^ White and White Black are exchangeable if needed.

Note: Common line = negative polarity, NOT ground

all this for that bloody wire? man o man! i don't think i'm skilled enough to do that. it says this in the manual about the wire.

One yellow wire from the main module connects to oil light / tension coil.

Yellow -> Oil indicator light/High tension wire

This wire must be connected to activate the remote start

function. There are two ways to connect this wire. It can be

connected to (1) the oil indicator light* or (2) the high tension

wire** (see Page 14).

* The oil indicator light should be on the dashboard. It usually

blinks when starting up the vehicle.

** The high tension wire method is recommended only for older

vehicle.

thanks again.

the way ive seen it is that it requires 12v when the car is running.. the oil indicator light gives it that..   instead of tapping into that light if u cant find it.. that curcuit will mimic it by making ur own voltage sense meter... i wonder if this can even be used to program the tach lol
