Hello all. I own a 2004 Acura TL. I am planning on purchasing a Lynx 2000 remote starter/car alarm for it. Since my car has chips inside of its keys, I need to get a bypass kit to have the remote starter work without leaving a key inside of my car. I am definitely getting a bypass kit as it leaves the protection of the chip and also allows me to remotely start my vehicle without leaving a key in the car.
The second thing is something I am less familiar with. I called bypasskit.com and they told me I need to also purchase this Lock/Unlock module that will allow me to use my Lynx 2000 car alarm to open and close my locks.
My primary objective is to: install the Lynx 2000 car alarm/remote starter, maintain all of the functionality that my Acura TL came with from the factory such as the key security feature & open/close windows sunroof, and DISABLE the factory car alarm.
The reason I want to disable the factory car alarm is so I do not have to unlock and lock using both remotes. I just want to use my Lynx 2000 car alarm/remote starter. Do I have to disable the car alarm to do this, or can I just leave the Factory alarm unarmedat all times? Will the factory alarm sit back and relax if I just leave it unarmed and let the Lynx do its job?
Damn I hope that made sense. Please let me know if what I want to do is possible, and what modules I need to purchase in addition to the two I listed. Also, please give me an idea of how hard it is to wire these modules. Do I have to tap wires for the modules, or do they have harnesses that simply connect to the car? I am guessing wiring.
I installed a Lynx 2000 alarm/remote starter in my 1998 Mitsubishi Galant so I am familiar with the installation for cars that do not have advanced alarms from the factory.
Thanks a lot guys, I hope someone can help!

Should be able to piggyback the new system with the factory. You will need a bypass kit for the RS function. You should be able to get a bypass kit that does not require one of your keys. DEI should be a 555H. Acura normally uses a negative pulse door lock system. There's a special note for the locks but I've never done a TL before. Done 2 RSX's but did not require a special part for the locks. Mayby one of the pro's can tell you about that for sure.

The only reason for the alarm bypass unit is to save you some work.Sometimes it could be hard to route the wire in the door boot. According to the chart in the previous posting it is possible to disarm the factory alarm by sending a negative pulse (disarm output from your lynx)on the white wire wich is located in the drivers door (This wire will test negative when unlocking by the door key barell.)So it's up to you to spend time or money.

Get the PKH3 and HODL2 from bypasskit.com
The 555H from DEI will not work.
It will make your life a ton easier. Your factory alarm will work right on top of the aftermarket system. I would not suggest ignoring the factory alarm.
You would need to run wires into the door for arm/disarm without the HODL2. The plugs in the drivers door boot is a pain in the a$$ to run wires thru.
The wiring for the 04+ TL is the same as the 03+ Accord. I won't do the Accord EX (has factory alarm) at my shop without both of those modules.

It's just a little more work to disarm the newer Honda's because the OEM disarm wire is located in the door. Aside from this the locks are (-) trigger and the disarm wire you have to run a wire from the door to the Lynx system. Most Honda's are easy to install into and the Acura is no different, just a little better put together. Like JWorm said, running a wire from the disarm wire is a pain, but for me it's worth it to save the customer a little extra cash and also I have had some issues with the HODL and HODL2 from Bypasskit so instead of having to waste comeback time, I spend it taking apart the door panel 2004 Acura TL and Bypass kits -- posted image.

I think I'll give both modules a try. If the HODL2 gives me issues, I'll resort to openning the door panel. I would prefer to not have to deal with the door panel, and since I own the car and am installing it myself... I'd like to save myself a headache if I can. Thanks for the tips guys!
