Hey guys, I'm trying to gather info for an install of an Ultrastart 1256M (manual compatible) remote start/keyless unit into a 2002 Pontiac Grand Am. Unfortunately I came acrossed a few forum discussions that talked of newer GM manual transmission vehicles having to be in reverse gear to remove the key from the ignition. I haven't seen the vehicle yet and I wondered if anyone has come accrossed this. Does the 02 Grand Am have this setup? Is there a way to disable this? With the engine running, the key needs to be able to be removed with the tranny in neutral. The e-brake also has to be pulled in order to set-up the reservation mode for the remote start to be set-up safely each time you exit the vehicle. Hopefully someone has some info on this and can shed some light on it. I've installed a 1256M(manual ready) unit on my brother's suziki swift but it didn't have any reverse lock on it.
Thanks for any help you can provide. Steve

Does anyone else have or know about 02 or newer Grand Am's having this setup on them?
