hello, i have a clifford sabre II alarm and need to reset the valet code.  i tried unplugging it but that didn't work.  it comes w/ a factory setting of the number '2', but i changed that 2 years ago and never had a problem until recently...NEITHER code works.  the alarm still works fine, i just can't get into the settings.

i called clifford (now DEI) and they told me to take it to the shop and they could call the tech line and walk them through resetting it, but the shop manager at CarToys told me that they'd have to pull it off and mail it to DEI and have THEM reset it?!

please help?  thanks!

fred

The only way to reset them was to send them to clifford(now DEI).  From a user point of view you cannot change that code unless you know the previous code.  unless dei is making the procedure available to avoid the hassle.  Kind of defeats the security though.

yeah, i can see your point i guess.  the problem is i never changed the code after the first time, and it worked fine for a few years...no, nothing?!?  lame.  i'm gonna unplug it for a few hours and see if that changes anything.

If you are inputting the right code but are getting no response it is a possibility that the valet switch has gone bad.  On those units the white wire on the switch changes polarity based on the position of the switch.  Unplugging the unit will not reset the valet code no matter how long you unplug it for.  Cliffords have non-volatile memory.

If you are inputting the correct code but not getting any response from the unit there is a chance the the valet switch has gone bad.  The white wire on the switch will change polarity based on the position of the switch.  Also check to make sure the alarm is getting ignition input on the WHITE/ brown wire while inputting the code.  Unplugging the unit will not help no matter how long you let it sit for.  Cliffords have non-volatile memory.
