is there a way to dis engage the steerwheel lock on a volvo 850 or for that matter any car i want to run my car w/o a key and be able to drive it also thanks

you can take the steerwheel lock out, pull the wheel off and see how it comes out, it will coem out if cant figure it out just cut it. i took th eone out og my jeep i hated that dam thing.

thanks for the consern but i want to use something beside a key ill take it apart and see i will be using some other form of security beside a key i want to do something like the bmw or mercades where you use a proximty sencer and u wont have to put the key i never liked the idea of keys to much work thats y any ideas now are is this to much of a risk

Putting the key in to start the car is too much work?  Must kill ya to have to open the door to get in and out. no key wanted -- posted image.

I'm sure there is a way to disable something like that but because it's a very uncommon thing to do, I think you'll have to take it apart and figure it out. Most of the guys in here install aftermarket electronics, not modify mechanical safety parts on cars. You may want to search for a Volvo owner's forum. Maybe someone else has tried doing something like that. That's where I would start. Good Luck
