I am trying to install a Power window control module to my 98 Mustang GT.  I installed it and ran into a little problem. The Drivers's  Door has a power control module from the factory where you push the button down (To roll down the window) and it will go all the way down with one touch.

However, I am trying to install  this aftermarket Power Window control module that will roll up my windows when I arm my alarm. Right side works fine (passenger side),

How do I get the driver side to work? It does not work beacause It has an existing Factory  Module to roll down the window.  Has anyone run into this problem?  IF so Please let me know how to get around  this problem thanks.

You must go into drivers door and get the wires inbetween the window module and the window motor. I believe the module is on the door panel towards the rear of the door.

Exactly Chris354!

Most of these windows modules explain this.  If you have a factory auto up/down installed you MUST connect to that window at the motor.  The window module has to be able to "listen" for motor "noise" to know WHEN the window is all the way up or down and to stop sending power to the motor at that point.

If you reconnect the window module wires "south" of the controller, this should address your issue.

Good luck!

Thank for the help I will try that and keep you guys posted on the issue.

I have another QUESTION where Can I hook up my trigger wire too? I tried the Door lock but they only go up about 2 inches do I need to look for another place to hook this up too? does it have to be 500ma? Or can I hook that up to any negative/ ground source??

What I want to do is for my windows to roll up when I Lock my car with factory remotes. It works but only goes up 2 inches when hooked up to the door lock.

But, When I hold it  ( The Door lock inside car) they both go up just fine with no problems, i can even hear the Window module kill power when they are both  up.

ANy help would be greatly appreciated thanks

I would use a timer module or a latching relay.

The alarm should have an "alarm armed" output and (in theory) your window module should have an alarm armed input that will roll up the windows when it receives signal.  You maybe able to relay your output to your sensor's negative 'ground when armed' wire to use it to send ground to your window module when the alarm is armed.

The window module should have a constant ground signal to the "armed" input in order to roll up the windows at arming.

I'm more familiar with the DEI 530T, so I'd probably be more of a help if I were more familiar with your particular window module.

Good luck!

Thanks again for the replies guys. Good Information.

I was thinking of useing a relay, however, I know that I can use an existing wire to send that neg signal to my trigger wire and have then go up when I arm/ lock my car. With my factory keyless/ Remotes.

I know that I need a constant neg supply in order to do that . // Because It works when I hold down the lock button inside car and both go up just fine.//

Can I hook this up to the neg of my Remote Keyless Entry module  Or Anti Theft Module?

Or Any other Neg source thats only active when the car is off?

Or does it have to be only 500Ma? For that Trigger wire?

any info would be greatly appreciated thanks again

That is a good question - definitely worth asking.

I wish I could tell you.  I'm thinking that you'll likely have to wire a relay to route a more "powerful" ground signal.  I say this because on my DEI 530T modules, there is a "ground path" wire for EACH WINDOW, which makes me think that it's a fairly powerful ground signal coming through that thing to drive those windows down and especially UP.

HOWEVER, if I were you, I'd certainly TRY straight wiring it first.  The worse that could happen is that the window module will fail when the system sends the signal to close the windows.  If that happens, then I'd just re-establish your wiring with a relay triggered by the 'arming' wire that feed straight ground from the body of your car to the window unit.

(hmm, going back and reading that it sounds kind of confusing - let me know if that makes sense)...

Thanks for all the Help brethbowman, I really appreciate it.

Well I have not tried to straight wire the trigger wire to a constang neg. I will do that to see if the windows go up, Which I think that they will. I mean it works when I hold my door lock button down they both go up just fine. However, I just want then to go up when I arm my car with my factory remotes/ alarm, which seems to be the problem. If I cannot figure this one out I just have to buy a relay and take it from there. What kind of relay should I get or which one do you recommend?  Thanks again.

I'm using Bosch, but I wouldn't recommend anything special... just a standard 30amp 12v relay.
