I am having troubles hooking up keyless entry  on a 94 explorer sport,  unit is an Audiovox model number AA-925 it has a 3 wire harness red, green (provide either a momentary pulsed ground or +12vdc out put) and RED / black (unlock other doors) learning from a previous installation you all helped me out with, the out put is 12v so I should not need a relay, correct?  when hooking up to pink / YELLOW (unlock) and pinklight green (lock) I get nothing.  The side note says reverse polarity drivers kick (lock) and W/keyless entry negative trigger drivers rear quarter panel (unlock) this must be the clue that I am not understanding, could you guys break it down for me, and what type of door lock system is on this ford, at the drivers door the wires are +12v  when pushing either lock or unlock only and O otherwise, I know this is basic stuff, any advice would really  be appreciated. Thanks

You have what is called reverse polarity door locks. These are a little different then just positive or negitave trigger. When you do this you will need 2 12V relays and you will have to cut the lock and unlock wires in half. Please see the attached link. Disregard the module they are using but use the relay connections shown. Let me know if this helps. Note that the red with black wire in the audiovox harness is not used.

The sheet you have is giving you the instructions for hooking up positve pulse door locks. This is only true if you explorer came with a factory keyless system, seeing that you are putting in a keyless I assumed that you never had factory keyless therfore your explore has reverse polarity

Jeremy,

Thanks for the reply and the info, I have printed the link you provided  I will have to get the relays and hopefully  hit it first thing tomarrow ( Sat.) I have wires every where and will have to give the car back to my daughter, she just got it and I am hoping it did or does not have factory keyless as you mentioned,  you may already know I do not do this for a living,  just trying to help my kids out, I will definately let you know the out come, I was very confused and was doubting my ability, but now I am sure I can get it done with your help, so thanks again, Bill

Well, I did as suggested and followed your instructions, and it ended up being a direct short .  If factory alarm is on this vehicle how would I know?  needless to say The door locks are not working, I had to put things back together for now so it is driveable, any other sugestions?  Do I have to disarm the factory alarm if equipped?  One other question, if equipped with factory alarm what does it take to activate,  just the remote and program it?  Maybe this would be the easiest solution. Thanks again
